Visa Requirements:
As a tourist, you can easily get a visa on arrival. But to save time, I would suggest you to get your visa online. The rate IS the same. This is the one and only official platform for e-visa : https://evisamada-mg.com/fr/home. Beware of scammers.
Health Precautions:
Madagascar is a malaria-endemic country, so taking malaria prophylaxis is essential. Additionally, vaccinations for diseases like typhoid, hepatitis A and B, and yellow fever are recommended. Consult your healthcare provider well in advance of your trip to ensure you are adequately protected.
Credit/Debit card:
Visa and MasterCard are widely accepted in Major cities. Only two banks accept Union pay. It's advisable to carry some local currency for small purchases in more remote areas. ATMs are available in urban centers, but it's wise to have some cash on hand.
Language:
The official languages are Malagasy and French but few people in rural areas speak french. While some people in urban areas may speak English, it's beneficial to learn a few basic Malagasy phrases to enhance your interactions with locals. This effort is often appreciated and goes a long way in fostering connections.I will soon make a vidéo on this 😉
Transportation Challenges:
Madagascar's infrastructure can be challenging, especially in rural areas. Road conditions may vary, and long travel times should be expected. Internal flights are available and can be a more efficient means of transportation between regions. Plan your itinerary with flexibility in mind to accommodate potential delays. I will soon write a detailed article on how to move from place A to place B.
Hotel Booking :
Make sure you book your hotel before you fly. Choose the ones that can pick you UP in thé airport.
Tour:
Madagascar is renowned for its unique flora and fauna, including lemurs and chameleons found nowhere else on Earth. The island is HUGE (592.000km2) so you can't travel around it a day. I would advise you to contact a Travel agency and to prepare your tour ahead in ordre to make the most of your trip.

There is no beach in the capital:
Many people expect to go to the beach as they land in Antananarivo, the capital of Madagascar. That's totally understandable given that it is an Island. But remember what I write, this is a HUGE island. The nearest beach is at around 300 km from the capital.
Weather Variability
Madagascar's climate varies across regions. Coastal areas are generally hot and humid, while the central highlands can be cooler. The country experiences distinct wet and dry seasons. Pack accordingly, taking into account the specific weather conditions of the regions you plan to visit.
